Leaking Toilets
Leaking toilets can waste just as much water as a dripping tap, and sometimes more! If you've got a leaking toilet don't just ignore it, give us a call today!
There are numerous reasons for which a toilet will be leaking. Our technicians can investigate the cause and give you an informed opinion on whether it is best to repair or replace the toilet.
Faulty Inlet Valve
The most common cause of a leaking toilet is a faulty inlet valve. This valve is responsible for controlling the water level inside of the cistern. It is usually a simple fix which can be carried out in under 15 minutes by replacing the faulty inlet valve with a brand new one. There are also quiet flow models available which can be installed to reduce the noise which occurs when a toilet is filling up. When replacing the inlet valve we always recommend that the outlet washer be replaced while our technician is onsite.
Outlet Washer
The next cause of a leaking toilet is a leaking outlet washer. This usually presents in a slow leak into the toilet bowl, which can go years unnoticed! When carrying out all basic toilet repairs we recommend that both the inlet valve and the outlet washers are replaced.
Flush Pipe
Another common type of leak that occurs is a leak on the flush pipe which connects the cistern to the toilet bowl. This type of leak usually presents with water dripping onto the floor when the toilet is flushed, it is usually a simple fix which can be repaired by replacing a rubber seal.
In some scenarios replacing all these parts is not enough and you'd be much better off replacing the cistern or complete toilet suite. Our technicians can give you a recommendation on which path to take and assist you with selecting a new toilet suite.
Our Recommendation
